"Their influences comprise genres from all across the board, including classic rock, blues, southern rock and country. The Busted String Band draws their inspiration from a plethora of inspirational artists, ranging from Willie Nelson to The Allman Brothers Band. The Busted String Band describes their sound as “country-folky-rock” and Americana. But their sound is so much more than the genre of their music. When asked about the band’s pure, raw sound, Mandolinist Max Robinson — flashing an irresistible grin — replied, “We’re pretty pure, raw people.”"

"Clad in old-time costumes, The Busted String Band ascended the stage stairs in Pershing Arena to open for Iron and Wine April 15. Midway through the concert, in front of an audience three times larger than any they’d ever play for, and preceding the largest headliner they’d ever opened for, graduate student Matt Kennedy, lead guitarist and vocalist, lived up to his band’s name and busted a string."
"True musicians, they’ve got a great arsenal of originals and cover songs you don’t hear every day. Lead singer Matt Kennedy’s unique voice will win you over before you’ve finished your first drink!"
"This is going to be soooo flippin’ awesome-Kirksville’s own Busted String Band full of heart thumping guitar and soul scratching fiddle."
"“Mighty Fools” features a mix of blues, bluegrass, country and Irish influences with a roots music center that holds everything together."
